Hi

Can someone point me towards some beginners info on I2C.  I can't seem
to find anything on the Philips web site.

Thanks

Charles

Hi,

See Desktop Video Data Handbook, 1993
>from Philips.

You can read simple description of I2C
in Microchip PIC16/17 Microcontroller Data Book.

Try http://www.mcc-us.com/techsrc.htm

You'll find a link to an I2C faq and something called "The I2C-bus and
how to use it (including specifications)" (you'll head Adobe Acrobat for
the latter).

For info on I2C:

See Phillips App Note (no number):
"The I2C Bus and How to use it"

Can be found in Phillips Data Handbook IC12
(I2C Peripherals)

Can anyone supply a short routine that will enable a PIC 16c84 to
read or write a byte to a IIC serial eeprom (eg 24lc65)?

Also, as Microchip supply both devices, why don't they supply some
working code for them as well?

They do, Antonio... At least a dozen I2C source-code examples
are available from the Microchip web site, the free Microchip
Developer Library CD-ROM, or the Embedded Control Handbook.
