Hi
I have got a phillips branded 2x16 char LCD, model LTN211F-10 it came out a poker machine, and I picked it up cheap second hand.
It has an OKI M5259 LCD driver and a OKI M6222B-01 chip on it. It has edge connectors for +,-,contrast,RW,RS,E,d0-d7.
I am pretty sure that this LCD can support i2c protocol, BUT I don't know which pins to connect it to. Does anyone have a ref for the 6222B ? and the numbers of the I2C pins ?
cheers

It is NOT a I2C interfeced Display.
It's a parallel interfaced Display
The datasheet is to found on the net.
I dont have the URL but try to search
for it with Altavista.

Peter, that sounds exactly like a standard Hitachi HD44780 compatible
controller. This is a parallel interface using either 4 or 8 Bits. E is
an Enable signal, RW is Read/Write, and RS is Register Select. You need
to connect the wiper of a 10K pot to the Contrast line with the other two
connections to + and - (+5V and Ground).

Or make a PWM to control the contrast, then it's all 'computerized'
I have been thinking about making a lcd display i2c compatible with a pic,
just for fun and to keep myself occupied with something.. And make the
contrast/brightness (i've got some lcd's with backlight) controlable from
the i2c....
