I just ordered a bunch of stuff.

The Scot Edwards Pic Source Book, Xicor 8K EEprom kit,
The Mirco Engineering Labs $40 programmer and 40 pin adapter, proto board
From Digikey 3 pic16c65's, 4 different xtal speeds, a bunch of opto couplers
and passive stuff.

I also have downloaded the PDF version of the 16c6x manual.

Man all the little stuff adds up. Close to or over $300.

Any one have a sugestion of what else I need to get to limit
my dumb questions?

David:

Do you already have an assembler and simulator?  If not, I recommend
Microchip's MPLAB; it's a Windows-based Integrated Development
Environment that includes an editor, assembler, and simulator (and
can be extended to include Microchip's programmers and emulators).

MPLAB's available from Microchip's web site and BBS; when you get it,
make sure you get the MPASM manual as well.

Mr. David,

I would recommend that you not make statements such as the above.
This list is a whole lot of tec stuff and not much humor.
But when someone leaves himself/herself open such as you did,
it is likely that someone will take the challenge.

I would, but you have made it so easy that the points awarded
would be small.

But hell, I can't resist.....

Take heart David, there are no dumb questions,
just dumb people.

Point noted. I don't mind being poked fun of, but this is not the place.

Also thanks to Andrew Warren for the tip on where to get MPLAB.

I will ftp it tomorrow.
