'How to source higher voltage & current'

I am working on a multi-digit 7-segment display with BIG digits. They
have a 21v drop per segment and I want to drive them multiplexed at 180mA
each.
I am using a 16C84 to drive a common TI TPIC Power shift register which
can handle the sink current of the segments (common anode 7-seg LED), one
digit at a time.
What I need is a way to multiplex the individual anodes. They will get
24V at a max of 1.26A (all seven segments on). This will be for 1/10th
duty cycle and 1ms.
Can someone tell me how to multiplex the input to the segments? Happy to
use discreet components if that's any help.
Thanks very much for the (probably basic) electronics help.
