Hi I am looking at the new jamco....page 26 they have a 2" long ultra violet lamp and a power supply for it. looks like you could get both for about 30 bucks... I was wondering if the lamp is the correct type ---------------------------------- total output flux= .25mW/cm^2 @ 1" 2.5 Ma 900 volt starting volt. 195 volts lamp volt. I will buy the parts and throw together some type of pocket eraser for windowed parts If someone can confirm that this lamp will in fact work. latter guys

Leave the Jameco lamp alone. It's black light (UV-C), the kind used to make psychedelic designs in fluorescent ink and white shirts light up. Won't erase anything. You can see in the image that the lamp is black. It can be used to backlight a LCD with fluorescent backing. Peter

Mouser sells a complete DATARASE unit for $39. It has a nice safety interlock so you can't blind yourself with it, and erases four parts. Why bother with homebrew?
