'Faster than a speeding PIC'

Hello again (yet another question),
Does anyone know if Microchip is planning to come out with
faster PICs?
What is the next step up from the Microchip PIC in terms
of speed? Are there other programmable interfaces out there that
are faster and still reasonably priced?
Thanks for your help,
Phil

What speed are you looking for? What sort of ROM/RAM size
do you need?
If 2048 words ROM is ok for you, you can use a Scenix SX.
If not, you can wait until Mchip brings out a PIC that can
run 400MHz. (100MHz SX = 400MHz PIC)
