I was wondering if anybody tried to build the f84 programmer by Jens Dyekj¾r Madsen at http://www.gbar.dtu.dk/~c888600/newpic.htm.  I recently built this programmer and have not been able to get it to work.  I've checked the power supply voltages across the zener diodes and found 0 volts across the 5.1 volt zener while programming an F84. Is this correct?  Also, when running the pictest program, it seems to time out when doing a random number check and a writing zeros check.  Has anybody had any luck with this board?

Thanks,

Mike

I tried the link it gave me the usual 404..page not found... but if it is a seri
al programmer, the serial port is usually not going to have enough power to prov
ide the programming voltage which should be around 13v...serial port is around 1
2v.  Also, your computer maybe too fast to do this in which case you should get
one of those programs that will slow down your system, run that program first, a
nd then run ur programmer software.  I have not had success with any of them and
gave up and bought a programmer :) but those are the usual problems, and thats
what a lot of people are going to tell you to do
