Hi,

I am part of a project group from the University of Exeter
(UK) researching the use of CAN in marine applications.  We
would like to impliment our project if possible with a PIC
that supports the CAN protocol, rather than a seperate CAN
controller such as the MCP2510. We have been told that the
PIC18C658 and PIC18C858 support CAN, but we can't get any
info on them, data sheets etc.  Does anyone know if either
of these (or any others) are actually available yet.

Cheers,

Dan Burgess

As of yet these are not it production.  You should talk to your local microchip
representative, if they are close they may send you some pre-production parts.

For now I would either choose a different micro which has CAN built in, or get a
PIC and Microchip's stand-alone CAN interface chip.
