'Digital Thermometer Requests'

Wow!  The response to my post about the Digital Thermometer is almost
overwhelming.  So far, I've sent out about 80 copies of the package.

Sorry if the reply seems like a "form letter", but it was the only way in
which I could reply in a timely manner.

I am in the process of setting up a Web page, so projects like these will be
available directly via from me.  For those people who are going to put the
package on their web pages, I would appreciate it if you would put the page
address on PICLIST so people know where to look for the package.

As I've said in my reply, I would appreciate all queries to be made on the
PICLIST.  That way, if you have a problem everybody can see what's going on.

A few things that I probably missed in the package that you should be aware of:

1.  The code is written and tested for the current level of MPASM (1.30.10 -
I just noticed a new version of MPASM has been released).  I haven't used
any macros and you should note where I pick up P16CXX.INC (where you have it
is undoubtedly different).

2.  If you are going to build the full thermometer, I really recommend using
all the source programs supplied for debugging.  A wiring difference on the
Displays between what I did and what you ended up doing isn't a major upset,
you can just use TEST1 to figure out how the segments work and go from there.

3.  I *may* break down and create a PCB design for the Thermometer.  If you
are interested in this, please let me know and if there is enough interest,
I'll sit down and do it and make the Gerbers available.

4.  As I noted above, I am in the process of setting up my own Web Page and
I'll put on my various PIC projects (ie "Frosty", the I/R Tamiya Tank,
etc.).  Please be patient, I don't know how quickly I'll be able to get
everything together.

5.  As I noted in the package, I am making the code and design available to
hobbyists and as an educational service.  I had to get a letter from my
employer to be able to do this.  This package (and any other package I make
available) is not available for use in commercial projects without my and my
employer's express written permission.  Failure to heed this warning may
result in your being sued back into the stone age.

Looking at the PICLIST for today, it looks like I've hit the flavour de
jour.  If I'm a bit slow responding to you, please realize that I am being
deluged with requests for the package.  Please watch for postings for the
THERMO.ZIP package being made available on ftp and web sites.
