I built a PicAll board, and everything seems to buzz-out correctly.  I
compared against
a picture on one of the websites...they had their PIC socket mounted
backwards.. so I
did the same (foolish me).  I've since put a 16f877 into the socket and
powered it on...
is the chip destroyed?  I cannot get the PicAll software to see any
device out there
(I'm on a 450mhz machine if the makes a difference)

You could try playing around with an 84 for initial tests if you can get
your hands on one easily.
You could also try another machine just in case.

destroyed, maybe, I have got away with it on 84's but no guarantees.
