Hi
is there anybody who has programmed the RTC DS1307Z in C ?

The CCS has a example!!! It works fine!!! What's meaning for 'Z'?

Thanks
The one on CCS's examples is for the DS1302, which has a 3-wire bus,
compared to the DS1307Z with a 2-wire bus.
DS1307Z replaces the former DS1307. It's still the same device and
withsame functions.

Is that the real time clock.
I think I fried my DS1307 when I put 5 volts to the battery input instead of
battery voltage approx. 3 volts. It would not oscillate the clock after
that.
I got a DS1629 part which has temperature and clock, and got that to work
with CCS C compiler. I think the same code would work. Dallas combined the
DS1307 clock and the DS1621 chips into one DS1629. Only problem I had was
that it only comes as an SMD part.

The DS1307Z Datasheet says +5V for Vcc and max. +3B for Vbatt. It runs without
Vbatt, but not without Vcc.
You are right, The DS1629 uses the same protokol (2-wire bus).
Thanks

>From the DS1307/DS1308 datasheet the suffix's are;
DS1307 8-pin DIP
DS1307Z 8-pin SOIC (150-mil)
DS1307N 8-pin DIP (IND)
DS1307ZN 8-pin SOIC (IND)
DS1308 36-pin BGA
DS1308N 36-pin BGA (IND)
I was unable to find the DS1307 or DS1307N at Newark. Are they
available elsewhere?
Thanks
