I bought a pic programmer from transtronics , its called the pocket
programmer, I can't get it to program any kind of pic that I have tried.

I have tried 16c84 ,12508,9, 16c56 and it won't program them or do a
blank check. I have tried with no success to get the transtronic co. to
help me get it doing something , but they have not been very helpful..I
would like to get up with someone who has the same kind of programmer to

see if they are having the same problems. Thanks for any help.

The way I understand it, this programmer is an EPROM programmer, and you
must have the adapters to program a PIC, or serial eeprom, as well as
874x and 875x devices. Are you using the PIC adapter?

Yes , I am using the pic adapter , I bought it extra at the time of purchase,
because I am really only interested in programming pic's. What kind of pic
programmer would you recommend. If anyone wants to buy the pocket programmer I
will gladly sell it.

Fancy asking me what I would recommend. :-)
I am a just a little biased, but go have a look at my newbie link at:

Re the programmer, it's possibly ideal for someone who wants both an
eprom burner and PIC programmer, but you say you couldn't get it
working, and got no support. As the company is web based, I find that a
little odd that they didn't respond.

The internet has built in safeguards for companies that don't respond.
Eventually everyone gets to hear about it, but to be fair, have you sent
them a recent email?

It really looks like a lot of design work and effort has gone into this
product.

Hi Robert,

when do you like to play with programmer, you can buy hobby one. If you need a t
ool, don't buy a toy. Try something from ELNEC (http://www.elnec.sk) - 3 years w
aranty and full support from Microchip. Or look at Microchip page about recommen
ded programmers.

P.S. Price of PIKprog is below $80.

Hi, don't waste your time. Return it and buy better one, e.g. PIKprog from ELNEC
(http://www.elnec.com/pokpg_en.htm).
