Search the PICList archives, someone had a cheaper alternative to this IIRC (some memory chip camera.) About half a year ago IIRC (Rough guess.) VV5300 was $19 last August, you provide lenses. Kodak DC-20 camera does this also. Probably DC-50's and so on as well. Another good place to look is at Jonathan's Meta-URL for the Microchip PIC Digest, at http://www.ee.calpoly.edu/~jcline/pic-links.htm; It's 334kb, though, but this looks promising: Cookbook CCD camera Home Page at http://wvi.com/~rberry/cookbook.htm - uses the TI TC211 ($35ish) or TC245 ($95ish) CCD Chips.
