Search the PICList archives, someone had a cheaper alternative to this
IIRC (some memory chip camera.)  About half a year ago IIRC (Rough
guess.)  Should be able to get a PIC attached to that to feed a serial
signal to another PIC <G>

KNEW someone would ask me where the PICList archive is - It's at:
 http://www.iversoft.com/piclist/

 {Nice of Iversoft to archive the list for us!}

 http://www.vvl.co.uk/products/sensors_cameras/home.htm is a good
possibility, for a commercial product.  VV5300 was $19 last August, you
provide lenses.

 Kodak DC-20 camera does this also.  Probably DC-50's and so on as
well.

 Another good place to look is at Jonathan's Meta-URL for the Microchip
PIC Digest, at http://www.ee.calpoly.edu/~jcline/pic-links.htm;  It's
334kb, though, but this looks promising:

 Cookbook CCD camera Home Page at http://wvi.com/~rberry/cookbook.htm -
uses the TI TC211 ($35ish) or TC245 ($95ish) CCD Chips.

 Might look at that <G>  Nice star picures in there, they're using that
for amateur astronomy.  Some day <G>
