Two books:
Beginner w/ PIC, get 'Easy PICn'.
PIC16F84, get 'PICn up the Pace'.  Both by David Benson.
More advanced, check out Myke Predko's books.
PIC16F877, get the data book.  The A/D is tricky.  When you get to that
point, I can assist you.
