'Binary-to-BCD Challenge'

Ok... I feel foolish.
The Binary-to-BCD code I posted works only on inputs from 0 to 999.
Notwithstanding the accompanying documentation, it does NOT work on
numbers between 1000 and 1285.
It will still solve the problem for which it was written; the guy who
originally asked for a binary-to-BCD converter needed a range of only
[0-999].
Many thanks to David Tait, who not only discovered the [0-999] limit
within a couple of hours of my posting the code, but graciously
refrained from calling me an idiot even after I insisted that the code
worked for numbers greater than 999.

Glad you like it... The routine in the Embedded Control Handbook uses the
same algorithm; it also appears in an old General Instruments appnote for
the original NMOS PIC, circa 1980. In both appnotes, though, the
algorithm's coded significantly less-optimally.

The Embedded Systems Conference is an annual affair put on by Embedded
Systems Programming magazine. It runs from September 12th through the 14th
at the San Jose Convention Center (in the heart of Silicon Valley, near San
Francisco). The exhibits-only fee is $25; if you have $600 or so, you can
attend three days' worth of classes, seminars, workshops, etc.
To register, call 214 323-0575.
