'Beginners question on increasing clock speed'
The DEC Alphas are gonna top 1000 MHz quite soon, I believe. Perhaps if you
could afford to spend $2000 dollars on this project it would be feasible.
Or maybe if you had 10 Alphas, running, in parallel, you could achieve a 1
ns instruction rate, at astronomical costs, of course.

Actually, TI's new DSP claims 1600 MIPS, is probably closer in architecture
to something like a PIC, and they're currently having a sale on the developer
set (only $995 instead of $1995, or somesuch.)
