It depends what level you're at. If you're a graduate engineer, then don't
bother with the Student Manual. It's a good companion to the book, but
doesn't really stand on it's own.
Just to throw a monkey wrench into the whole thing, have you looked at
"Bebop to the Boolean Boogie". Stupid title, great book. It doesn't have
the example circuits of AOE (if it did, I would sell AOE), but it is a lot
more accessible if you are still learning about electronics.
I have all three. When I want to look something up, I start with Bebop then
go to AOE. I really don't find much use for the Student Manual.
