I just discovered and joined this list and am amazed at the terribly low
signal-to-noise ratio. Could we keep the discussion to PIC topics please?
I had over 50 messages in my inbox this morning, and a prolific PIC
discussion would be very welcome. But most were discussing magnetic
fields, perpetual motion machines, urban legends, house wiring practice US
vs. UK -- so now I delete most of the messages without reading.
The folks on USEnet figured this out a while ago -- if it isn't relevant,
don't read it, and PLEASE don't respond. And if you MUST respond (perhaps
your ego tells you that your insight is especially keen and unique, which
it is not), do it in personal email, not to the list.
So please:
1. Only send to the list things related to PIC processors, support tools
and projects. Ignore anything not related.
2. Try to be concise -- remember people have to read it, and most of us
are busy. Put something descriptive on the subject line. If you are
sending a follow-up in a thread, include the original subject so people can
easily see if it is a thread of interest.
3. Thanks for all those who have sent relevant and useful PIC info -- it
makes the list worth reading.

We have this discussion come up from time to time, and you know what?
People like the sorta-off-topic stuff. It won't go away, and where else
can you get such a good variety of people answering all kinds of questions?
Usenet stinks - it doesn't come in your e-mail!

Very often these off-topic threads come around to solve problems that I
have in other projects. I for one want to keep them.
If you want a list that sticks very much to PIC-related info, join the
Parallax list. http://www.parallaxinc.com
Oh, BTW, it's mostly newbies so don't expect too much help.

PIC? what is a PIC?

Ahhh, this explain. By the way, you looks to be a well informed person,
perhaps you can help us... we are looking for a strong magnetic shield
to produce a moto generator to feed a microcontroller... can you help
us?
:)

Actually, the signal-to-noise *ratio* on PICLIST is, on an average basis,
quite favorable. The thing is, however, that the *absolute* noise level is
quite high. There just doesn't happen to *be* any signal at the moment, so
all you are seeing is the noise. Like, for example, right now there appears
to be a metadiscussion about the S/N ratio on PICLIST, which IMHO is
contributing to the noise level, not the signal. Perhaps you would be
interested in contributing to the signal?

You may apply for a refund by following the procedure on page 27 of the
PICLIST handbook.

Bravo Bob!
The absolute signal level gets pretty high too!

With us Admins watching like hawks, it's not a good idea to spam the
list - having "only members can post to the list" helps a lot (Spammers
are usually too dumb to figure out how to join lists to spam 'em.) I
like it this way, too.

And the only way they can get back off is to buy a T-Shirt!

OH! Now that is a good idea! Sort of an extortion type list.

Hmmm, maybe....
Actually, if it's extortion, they probably already have one out there
already. Send a letter to spamBeGonegollygapspamBeGoneyahoo.com and see what lists you end up on!

Wagner,
By amazing coincidence I have three left of (complete!) mag shield + moto
generator as you refer to in your post to Randy Bee low.
Please reply off list re purchasing details.
regards,
Graham Daniel.
P.S.
I feel strong sympathy for you over the undeserved criticism of your
educational background. Anyone without (at a minimum) a doctorate and at
least 20 years industry experience in perpectual motion machine design and
instalation should not be so impudent as to criticise your superb writings.

Exactly!!!
A REALLY successful product will have some advantage over a
competitor, technical understanding of topics not strictly PIC can be
of enormous help. Someone else may contribute the serendipity you
need.
If you want a really PIC only site .. try Microchips forum (zzzzz
yawn), it would probably suit you.

Hey Andy, watch it or that dude whom complained about Tony and his
Picknpoke adds will get you. On that where is Tony?

So would XXL be 105 or 110? I would like to wear anuthing that said "Eat my

Oh yes, I DON'T HAVE THE TUMMY to match
