Just a question on the 16f877
Is this "normal" to take such a bloody long time from first
documentation to actual delivery of a new microcontroller?
We have our ICD but the stock 16f877's are still weeks if not months
away. I was reading the data sheet on this sucker last year!!!!!!
Does this also mean the other future products are years away?
I have been a strong supporter of PIC controllers but my patience is
wearing thin. The AVRs are starting to look attractive.
Comments please.....
Note: this is not a flame fest... just a serious evaluation of my
development programme.

I just got a batch last week, and have been trying them
out. It was worth the wait - these chips are giving
me a serious woody. If only they'd had a 12 bit instead
of 10 bit A/D, I'd never rent a porno video again! 8*)

99 bugs in my hex file,
99 bugs to fix.
Fix one bug
Asemble again -
101 bugs in my hex file...

I ported my MPC-compiled 16c74A project over to the the 16c877 - I only
had to change 2 #defines and add 2 brackets: SaveContext to
SaveContext();
Worked second time... but that first compile gave me too many errors to
count. And no hardware changes since I can't use the ADC anyway,
although 10 bits is *halfway* there.

Yeah, but how many 11-bit ADCs are out there?

Ha! I guess I should have said 2^(halfway there). Or something like
that.
Actually, most 16-bit ADCs make reasonable 11-bit ADCs. Has anyone ever
gotten true 16 bit noise-free counts out of a 16 bit converter? No
averaging allowed.
