'509 vs 509A'

Can someone tell me what the differences in the 509 and 509A are. I
couldn't find anything on the Mchip website. Also, can I program a 509A
with old Parallax software for a 509. I have programmed some newer
parts with older software successfully and sometimes it blows the code
protect bit.

The 509A is a more advanced chip
It is made with a smaller fab process line width of 0.7 micron vs 0.9 for
the 509
It has 6 oscal bits vs 4 in the 509

I did take a chance and programmed my JW parts with the 509 setting on my
programmer. All seems to work fine. Thanks.
