Hello,
After almost 24 hours my message has not appered, so I resend it:
Hello all,
I have some problems programming pic12c508 DIL chips. From one tube (60
pcs), 18 didnt work after programming, thats 30%, and I have no idea what
could be wrong.
I have programmed all in same way, with same source code, and on same PC...
I am using win3.11, picstart plus programmer and mplab, all chips are
programmed ok. I suspect the internal osc. to be the problem (Have not made
any tests), all chips are programmed with internal masterclear and int.
osc. (source uses int. osc.)
Anybody have had the same problem ????
What could be wrong here..
best regards,
tobias

Yes, I have had problems with this device, namely the calibration data.
Check to ensure that you are not overwritting this area. Also when powering
this deivce up, I am assuming that you don't use the external reset line,
check the rise time. There has been a problem with a slow power rise time
and the internal reset (Heared of only). You may need to speek to Microchip
about this, the easy way around this is to enable the watchdog. (This breaks
some of my brownout an power stuff opps)

i did see your original post (remember you the sender don't normally see you
own posts) unless you set repo.
my only guess would point to your programmer, maybe if you tried to
reprogram the chips with the same data on a good production programmer the
chips might work. if this fails i would contact microchip with the model
number and date codes from the chips and see if there have been abnormal
failures reported from the same batch.

Are you running the PICs at 3 volts? do they work if run at 5
volts?
The picstart plus (all the picstarts I think) only verifies at
5Volts

HI,
only those marked with letter 'L' in the type mark can run securely from 2
Volts (e. g. 16LC84) . Microchip guarantees working at minimum 4.5 V. Of
course most work at 4 V, a bit fewer at 3.9 etc... So, believe Microchip!
