'-ME chips'

Hi Folks,

I would like to ask a little ( or great) help.
I would like to know about the 84,62,71  -ME chips.
They are 28 pins chips and they are in a downloader.
I asked the Microchip a few month ago but they doesn't answer yet.
I suppose they are looking for the answer.
I think these chips can run the program from a RAM.

Thanks George

George,

I am assuming that the chips that you are talking about are the
Microchip 16C84, 16C62, and the 16C71, although they are not all 28-pin
chips.

The 16C71 is a 28-pin DIP micro with internal A2D conversion.  Look here
for the 16C71:

       http://www.microchip.com/Download/Lit/PICmicro/16C71X/30272a.pdf

nearly 2Mb.

The 16C84 is an 18-pin DIP micro with internal EEPROM.  Look here for
the 16C84:

       http://www.microchip.com/Download/Lit/PICmicro/16F8X/30445c.pdf

about 1.1Mb.

The 16C62 is an 28-pin DIP micro with 22 I/O pins.  Look here for the
16C62:

       http://www.microchip.com/Download/Lit/PICmicro/16C6X/30234d.pdf

about 3.6Mb!

Good luck!

Michael

Hi George,

These parts are the bond-out versions of the 84,62,71 or
whatever. The idea is to bring out internal signals for
an In Circuit Emulator or whatever. Otherwise the chips
are the same as the "real" parts.

The obvious signals to bring out would be address and data busses
for the internal program memory so that you could put some external
ram for the program memory.

I suspect that data sheets are around somewhere, although I haven't
seen any. It's the sort of information you would really only need
if you are planning to build an ICE or soemthing similiar.

Hi,

I assume George did not meant you assume. The downloader runs a PIC
program, but for being able to do it correctly for a particular chip it
needs that -ME chips. It is an extension for the downloader. I think the
stuff is not public.
