Sorry Kathy, no help for you, but I just can't help thinking what it
would be like if my mother was able to fix my PC for me. It is totally
un imaginable.
Said with a high degree of respect to you since my mom phone me every
other day with a PC problem.
You must be a mom worth a million (Yup, you can send this to your son).

Still shaking my head.

(Oh, at 18 I was drooling over my friend's ZX81, do your own sums.)

WOOOHOOOOOO

A fair amount of googling and some mucking around (the bios is dead what
more can I do wrong)

I FIXED IT :o)

ok just for our archives :

To flash the bios on a TYAN MB using the AWARD bios you type :

flashv73 <bios file name> /py/sn/f/cc/r

now if you screw up, you should still be able to boot from floppy, although
your screen may not work, and you MUST use a ps2 keyboard.

If the screen does not work, all is not lost, just put this in an
autoexec.bat file on the floppy :

flashv73 <bios file name> /py/sn/cc/r

It seems the /f flag makes the program use the bios chips routine for
flashing the chip, and if this is corrupted you get a message about this is
not an award bios.

I hope this will help other people

Regards,

Kat.

Great feeling isn't it ? I'm planning to upgrade the BIOS on my bro's
P100 so your original post gave me the squirts. It was exactly what
I didn't want happening, five pathetic little faces with big eyes looking
at b'stard Unca Joe who just killed their new PC. Thanks for posting
the bail-out if I have a problem

btw, someone put me onto a small program called CTBIOS.EXE.
It's a small utility that reads the BIOS and displays it in a panel on-
screen. You can find it quite easily with Google
