I plan on using an SX chip to control a new project. Since timing is important, I was just wanted to make sure I was correct on a few things.
Does the MHz of the crystal used directly result in the MIPS performance?
and
Can I use any size MHz crystal on the Proto Board, not just 20, 50, and 75?

Provided you are running the SX in turbo mode, MIPS and clock are the same. For example, at 50 MHz, one instruction cycle takes 20 ns. Keep in mind that some instructions, like skip and jmp take more than one cycle.
You may use any kind of crystal frequency on the proto board, or with the SX in general.
