Hi,
Can anybody recommend a PIC starter kit that has a
prototyping board and that can be programmed with C?

Thanks

Hans Merkl

CCS do a starter board and also the CCS compilers. But I haven't used them.
Also there is the Millenium board from bluebird-electronics.co.uk (also
available from Farnell)which comes with some 'C' programs.

Look as well at http://www.phanderson.com he has some kits as well as 'C' snippets.

Would love to buy his book but postage is a little high with the xchange
rate just now for the A$.

I have a package that includes an In Circuit Debugger,
breadboard, a PIC16F877, power, inexpensive logic
probe, misc parts and some 275 pages of discussion
related to C routines for the PIC16F87X family and 125
pages related to Low End Microchip PICs.

It does not include the CCS PCM compiler.

See http://www.phanderson.com/icd/.

Look at the PicWiser876 and 2BIT programmer at
http://www.emicros.com with or without the CCS C Compiler.
