'[OT:] ? [PIC:] ? Source for Serial Pic'n'

I'm not sure how these topic labels work.  I'm not convinced this is off
topic, but I can't claim that it is specifically about the pic either.

Aynway:  I am trying to buy the Serial Pic'n book.  Fatbrain has a 2-3
week ship time, I think, and B&N just sent me a nice note saying it
wouldn't ship until August 2 or so.  I would REALLY like to have this book
in hand very soon.  Can anybody point me to a source that can ship within
a day or so?

Thanks,

Steve

I purchased mine from Peter Anderson
http://www.phanderson.com/

And received it within a three days.  You can buy it from him through amazon's
zshops, or directly from him (he does accept credit cards).

I just noticed, on the PIC specific RS-232 IO on the code archive
that the book Serial PIC'n is incorrectly said to be written by David
Benson.  Maybe the person who maintains the site reads this list.  :)

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone has had any success in getting some of
the examples to work from this book. I am attempting to get the examples
for onboard usarts (16c63) working, and have had no luck. The circuit
diagram in this text uses 6 lines, TD, RD, DTR, RTS, GND and COM.
I would like to be able to just use TD,RD and GND. If no-one has used this
book/example, can someone recommend an example that will work with the
on-board usart of the 16c63??
Thank you for all your time and help.

Mike,

I have the same book and couldn't get the examples to work either.  If you
have any success getting something to work with the 3 signals (TD, RD, GND)
,please let me know.  I'm working on it, it's just not a high priority,
currently.

Thanks,

Duane

I got green1.asm to work on my MPLAB/877; if that's
something useful, let me know and I can submit my hack.

Hi All,
I finally got this program to work. After hooking the pic up to my
scope, I was able to find the problem. It turns out that it wasn't the
pic, but the capacitors on the max232. These were replaced and everything
looks good.
