Gang,

A question about the old ITU PIC-1 Programmer.  I have one
and someone sent me a copy of the manual as I could not find
mine.  I would like to get a copy of the schematic for the
files.  I purchased a DB-25 serial (straight through) cable
to connect to a LINUX SuSE 6.4 machine and/or a WIN98 system.
Neither seems to work so think it is the cable.  Help appreciated
from those using same.

Also have an older PICStart + (version 1.20.00 I think, don't have
the notes handy) and would like to upgrade but it looks like a
catch 22 unless I get a new micro for it......  The LINUX versions
of software don't work with the later versions of the firmware.

For those of you doing Rockets.  See Air Force Cambridge  Research
Labs report  AFRCL-68-0367.  I wrote the report in August of 1968.
It has to do with laser guided critters.  Any good library at a
University should have these on file or can get them for you.
My part was to do the research of light scattering in aerosols
and signature return analysis.  Unclassified work.

Best price I can find is $4.00 in quantities of 100 for the 16F84.
That is DigiKey's price.  Anyone got a better source?

Thanks in Advance.  I have downloaded the FAQ and wading through
a ton of stuff on the Internet.

My favorite book so far is John Iovine's "PIC Microcontroller
Project Book" from McGraw-Hill.  Just got it yesterday from
Amazon.com and I'm doing all the examples in ASM instead of
wading through issues of ordering software, etc.

I am obviously just starting, but will get up to speed ASAP.

ciao,

Hi Chuck,

Thanks! I almost didn't read you message because I didn't notice the work
Rockets in the subject, now I'm glad I did! (although, I am probably out of
the guided model business for a little while, having spent $500 on my first
project, I'd like to complete a less expensive, more sure project, e.g.,
altitude measurement, first before attempting another very complex rocket).
