Hi there,

I'm looking for a schematics of a brokaw cell that doesn't depend on using 2
transistors  with different emiter areas. Does sucha a thing exist ? Any links ?

TIA.

(A Brokaw cell is one type of band-gap reference circuit).

An excellent practical introduction to band-gap references is given by Nat
Semi at

       http://www.national.com/rap/Application/0,1570,24,00.html

This includes (and tends to concentrate on) the Brokaw cell but also a
number of other band-gap implementations. If you are more interested in the
result than the specific method then you may find something useful here. I
do like the utter simplicity of the "brute force" diode string approach
although you do need more than 5 volts to implement it.

Can you parallel transistors to get the differing emitter areas?

All,

I always thought a "Brokow Cell" was where they locked up Tom if he
screwed up on his newscast. :')

                                           Regards,

                                             Jim

P.S.  Sorry, I couldn't resist.
