'[PICLIST] [admin]: strange emails from piclist'
2002\05\31@033514 by Alan B. Pearce

face picon face
Does anyone else get these?

I periodically get an email like this apparently from the PICList, but with
no header information or subject. This has been going on, probably once a
month or so for a considerable time, long before the current Klez outbreak
started, so I do not think it is anything to do with that.

Appreciate any insight

Alan

I suspect that the list mime settings for your account and your email
reader have a misunderstanding. Or, that your local email server splits
large posts. Try to send yourself something with a large MIME attachment
(binary file) and see what happens.

Well the local site is classed as a university, and has a mail server that
allows very large attachments, as in several megabyte, which I think is
considerably larger than the piclist allows through, so I doubt this is a
problem.

Thanks for the thought though.

I've got messages like yours in the past, but not lately.

I posted the strange messages to the list admin., and they
suggested, too, problems with MIME encoding.

Regards,

Alvaro Deibe.

I get mails occassionally with no sender (from piclist).
The message within is fine, but includes all the header
info.  And of course my Outlook rules can't process these
into the appropriate folder.

Haven't figured out why, or bothered to yet.

Cheers,
-Neil.
