Hello to all!

I'm sorry for the re-posting... but I've missed the [PIC] header... so I got the msg which told me I should insert it to improve "visibility" of my post... :-)

Do anyone know or use this complier ? What do you think about it ?
I would ask just two question:
- Is the syntax highlight possible ?
- In the target window I can't find PIC16C745, but I write code for this uC. Should I get the library to support the chip ? If yes... where can I find that ?

Thanks
Marco Trapanese

I've downloaded the free version before a while.
My first impression was:
- not optimized use of the RAM resources
- the code is not optimized
- plenty of bugs
- almost don't work on the low range 16C5X PICs

One of the major bug I saw is that the compiler doesn't set the code page
properly i.e. if you have "for" loop block which starts in one page but
cross the pages it sets the pages at the begining of the block and doesn't
alter in the whole body.
You will have great fun if you don't have emulator to catch the problem

Best regards
Tsvetan

thank you for your answer. Now I ask you another question.... :-)
I use MPLAB as assembler, PICALL as programmer, and PIC16C745 as chip...
Which compiler could I use, if I want a user-frendly GUI, support for that
PIC and possibly some "include" files with common functions (such as TX-RX
on RS.232, I2C, USB and so on...)  ?

Cheers,
Marco Trapanese

Check what Microchip offers. I suppose you'll do something with USB:

search1.microchip.com/10/lit/pline/picmicro/families/16c7xx/support/i
ndex.htm

they offer USB support firmware both in HI-TECH C and Assembly language.

so the choice is yours

Best regards
