Has anyone done a IEEE488 interface on a PIC? This is the bus for
controlling instruments etc. I'm thinking of using it on a 3axis drill (for
PCBs) that I made. Any comments?

Best regards,
   John

John,

I have looked into this and found alot of information.

IEEE488 Driver IC's:
IOTECH http://www.iotech.com
ComputerBoards http://www.computerboards.com
INES http://www.gpib2000.com

MISC. Info:
http://ftp.agilent.com/pub/mpusup/pc/iop/hpibtut/index.html (AGILENT
"INSIDE" INFO.)
http://www.ni.com (National Instruments has ALOT of info.)
http://www.mot-sps.com (Motorola has an APP note on interfacing a DSP and a 68HC11)
http://www.transera.com/htbasic/tutgpib.html (Tutorial and MISC. INFO.)
http://students.washington.edu/gwl/phys434/gpib.html (Programming and using
GPIB with C/C++).

Using the chips you from NI, INES, ... etc. you can build a nifty interface.
TI will give
you samples at their website for the 75160 and 75161 IEEE488 driver chips to
go along
with the other chips. Best of luck!!!!!!!

Best regards,
Steve
