Anyone know about a corruption problem with the above chip?

Somehow the date and sometimes the time becomes corrupt. Does anyone know
how to rectify this? I run the unit from a 12vDC supply with a 12v battery
backup...

Thanks
Kevin

Your 12V power sources are too high, the DS1302 is rated for 2.0V to 5.5V.
See the data sheet for more info.

Change your power sources then try a new chip as I expect the one subjected
to 12V is now bad.
