Hi. There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about encoding data with radio modules. I said I would post some code when I got it done. Trouble is i`m sitting here trying to do it know and it`s driving me crazy, I was wondering how any of the others attempting it got on. BTW Anybody know of some radio modules (transcievers) that are cheaper than the radiometrix ones?? I`m not really interested in anything more complicated than data in RF out, 0 external components!! being lazy I know. Cheers. . Andrew Seddon

They do however all seem pretty complicated, obviously a result of spread spectrum. Have you looked into Bluetooth at all? I gather that the chips can be upped to 100mw at 2.4ghz so that should give reasonable range. I had a look a couple of weeks ago but again all seems pretty complicated. Andrew Seddon.

I have been following BlueTooth for a while, but have not condsidered using it for our comm because I dont need that much overhead in protocol. Their web site is not the best. You have to find the OEM secion and look there. There are basicaly 4 radios there are two baud rates (96K or 250K) and two freqs (900 and 2.4). Thats all. I use the 2.4G/96K transceivers because I need bidirectional comm. The sensativity is not as great as the BIM, but the output is much better. Though the power consumption is MARKEDLY higher ( about 100mA stand-by and 200mA transmitt). Power consumption is not a concern for us so it didnt matter.
