Hi,

you might want to know that many (all ?) GIFs served from http://www.piclist.com
are served with MIME type text/html, which is not what they should be. I
cannot see the images in Netscape unless I do some magic on them.

I believe that the IIS server should be configured to add the image/gif
MIME type to .GIF files, besides .gif files. A sample URL is:

http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist/bsw.GIF

which renders as pristine ASCII text in my browser (or as a blank image in
the parent documemnt). I need to save it, rename it, and reload, or set a
new MIME type in the browser to see it right.

Oops! Thanks for the catch. Is it better now?

It works for me now in Netscape. Communicator 4.06 and IE 5.0 (as it always
did)

Hi,

I will check the site over the weekend. I do not understand why you could
see it right all the time ? Anyway I'll have to purge my cache and reload
the pages. This will take some time.

Aparently IE 4 and 5 and Netscape 5 all take the cue from the file name and
the fact that it is referenced in an image tag.
