'[PICLIST] +AFs-EE+AF0-: Cheap light level sensor'
I use a QSD122 phototransistor extensively in light sensing, and they are
pretty cheap. The sensitivity is basically set by the collector resistor,
the higher the resistor the higher the gain (to a point). If you need more
gain run the emitter into another transistor in a darlington arrangement,
otherwise just ground it. Range is whatever your optics make it do. A
qsd122 mounted at about a 10 degree angle with a red LED, with a suitable
light barrier between them should sense objects up to 12+ACI- away, I think I
remember doing this experiment a while back.
