'[PIC] Small Graphic LCDs for Direct Drive by PIC?'

Does anyone have a favorite small graphic LCD that can be driven directly
by the LCD drive capable PICs? I have a project coming up that looks like
it requires one. Most of the graphic LCDs I'm finding are modules that
include the driver (and the cost of the driver). Ideally, I'd like to find
standard (not custom) glass with a monochrome pixel array. I still don't
know the size, but I'm guessing maybe 50mm square. We may also want to do
one in color.

THANKS!

Harold

I rather like the LCDs from the old Nokia 3310 - 38x35mm and 84 x 48
pixels. I don't think it specifically fits into the category of "driven
directly by the LCD drive capable PICs" as it just uses SPI. Not sure
what kind of quantity you're after but http://www.jelu.se stocks them
and I'm sure you can find them elsewhere.

The only "problem" is that you have to write 8 vertical pixels at a
time so unless you implement VRAM you'll pretty much be stuck using at
as a character display.
