'[PIC] SDCC Status / Info?'

Hey Folks,
I've been looking around for info about SDCC. Apparently it supports the 18-series of PICs now. I've browsed through the archives a bit, but the archive interface is a little weird, and there's so many posts about SDCC that it's hard to see the forest for the trees, and find what's up-to-date, and what's not.
Does anybody here actively use SDCC, and/or know of anywhere I could find info about it? The SDCC manual is full of info, but I'm looking for something more like examples with explanations (easier for me to learn). I'm fairly with-it as far as programming PICs (in assembly) go, I'm just looking for something more high-level to use for the project I'm working on (Parallel ATA Interface, eventually with FAT and CD-ROM support, on a pic18f458). I haven't programmed in C in a while, but I took it at school, and understand the jist of things.
Thanks,

Ok, this needs to be added to the FAQ.
There will, from now on, be a $20 tax on anyone asking this question. All
funds collected will be invested and when we reach the $120,000 (? IIRC)
needed, forwarded to Scott so he can do the work required to bring the PIC
sdcc port up to commercial grade.
Oh all right...
;)
There. Happy now?
Seriously, Jesse, where did you hear about sdcc so that we can try to get
that web page updated with the actual status of the compiler?

James,
sdcc.sourceforge.net/doc/sdccman.html/node109.html
That page lists the supported PIC18-series parts. As far as I can tell, the port is a fairly done deal; with a few to-be-completed aspects. A large stack model seems to be incomplete. I wasn't even aware that it wasn't a known-to-be-working deal. My question was meant to be more along the lines of "have any examples?" rather than "is it ready yet, huh, huh?". I've actually compiled some PIC18 stuff, just for a test, but I didn't want to reinvent the wheel if there was already a source base out there for basic things.
Peter,
I hadn't joined the SDCC mailing list, but I figured I would ask here first to see if anybody had any PIC-specific stuff, rather than the SDCC list which is probably a majority of non-PIC talk. I'm on it now though.

I just started using SDCC for the 18F1220. They don't have the
pic18f1220.h header quite done but I've been submitting any improvement
I do. I think the 18F458 is better supported, but really there is no
reason why you wouldn't be able to do a work around if a register is
missing from the header or something. C is much easier than assembly for
me and sdcc works fine, so I'll be sticking with it.
