After a lot of looking on the web I am looking Into buying the following
items from Mikroelektronika.
EASYPIC3
It has a programmer on board. so that means I would not have to buy a
programer which could cost from $30 to $100.
It appears to be a good board for learning.

MIKRO BASIC compiler
Does any one have any experience or knowledge of these Items or company?
any problems with support or delivery to the USA?

I have the EasyPIC2, a really nice board. I'm thinking about getting an
easyPIC3 because it has a few new nice features (replaceable crystal and
GLCD for example). I use mikroPascal, but internally it uses the same
compiler, so the discussion is still valid. I found it twofold: while it is
not as mature as some other compilers, it has very nice libraries in it. For
example, I did a logger using CF+FAT in less than 10 lines of code.
I started using it since version 2 (now is 3.4 or 3.0.4, I don't remember),
and they try to fix any major bugs that come up.
I'm a software engineer and my main experience is with delphi, and their IDE
is very similar to Delphi and very easy to use. I had no delivery problems
when I bought my kit. Although I read a few people complaining about delays
in their forum. Seems like they have a stock here in the US already, so we
don't have to wait for overseas shipment.
Cheers

It's not exactly the same thing, and there are definitely tradeoffs to think
about, but my EasyProg kit and QuickProto-01 together cost less than the
item you mentioned above. See http://www.embedinc.com/products for details.

The EASYPIC3 looks really nice, but I started just with a solderless
breadboard and a serial bootloader and it worked fine. If you can
afford it get an ICSP programmer too.

Hi,
I have ordered the EASYPIC3 as well as the Basic compiler from them,
and from the latest e-mail, it should arrive here in the US some time at
the end of this month. I ordered it in the middle of October. I will let
ou know when I receive it, if you would like to know.

I just must ask...
Are they using "surface mail" ?
Or did they have some availablity problem ?
Do you know the actual shipping date ?
If I ship something (from Sweden) on a Monday,
it usualy arrives in the US by the end of the week.

My order was shipped on Nov.11. They said it will take 1-3 days to get
thru customs and 7-18 days to receive it in the US.

OK, seems reasonable, I guess... :-)
Thanks for the clarification.

Probably because it is a new product. When I bought the easypic2, it took
just a few days for it to be delivered. They had a stock of boards in the
US.

- that is a bit long (to put it mildly)
- the order is a bit strange to: I suppose it would first have to go to
the US, and then pass through customes

There is a quite active forum for these boards, and limited (but
useable)versions of there own BASIC and C compilers are on the CDROM that
ships with them, the sample code is fairly uninspiring however. The boards
seem of very high quality.for the price you get a good deal.

A number of you have been talking about EasyPIC3 boards. I am a distributor of these boards, and I am giving up working with this company. They may have a good product, but getting their products is like having a root canal. They are totally unreliable in their delivery time, in answering email messages, and in technical support. I believe that the problem is that they are swamped with orders, which, due to limit production capacity, they can't deliver.
