Can't seem to download this from Microchip's website (but I can get other
datasheets). Any of you have a copy you can email me? I'm figuring this
might be faster than contacting Microchip directly. TIA.
Cheers,
-Neil.

Just kind of in passing I will note that using Firefox under Windows XP
I often have a problem downloading large data sheets from Microchip.
It just hangs up and sits there forever. If I try it several times,
however, eventually it will get downloaded. Whether the problem is at
my end or Microchip's end (or somewhere in between, in the inscrutable
ether) I do not know.

I have the link, but the download keeps timing out (almost instantaneously)
and returning a corrupt file of zero or almost no bytes.

With some sites it seems to work better to save the file first and then
open it with Acrobat. Otherwise it's very slow or hangs.

Hi Neil
Try right clicking and choosing save.
Save the file to your hd and then try to open from windows explorer.

Is that to the plug-in or directly to a file ?
One of the first things I did in FF was to remove the
PDF plug-in, so clicking on a PDF link gives a dialog
to select "save to file" or to "open with Acrobat" (the real
one, not the plug-in).
Works fine now.
I don't know if the problems are specific to PDF's, but
I downloaded MPLAB 7.40 full ZIP distribution using
Firefox and a dialup internet connection yesterday.
Took several hours, but worked on first try...

Actually, I lied. Not intentionally, of course. What I meant to say
was that if I click on the datasheet at the Microchip website (a pdf
file) with Firefox, the file is downloaded into Acrobat Reader (which is
an AR plugin), and that pretty much always works. But whenever I
download a datasheet like that, I click the little floppy disk symbol at
the top left of Acrobat Reader to save it to a file on my computer, and
that is where the hangup sometimes occurs. When it hangs up in that
fashion, it hangs up big time (the computer has to have the electrical
plug pulled).

I'll try that and see if it helps.

I had a 56KB dial-up connection for many years, but not too long ago
they finally brought Comcast cable out here in the country, where I
live, so I switched to cable. I don't think that I could ever go back
to a dial-up now! :-)
