'[PIC] MPLAB and make logic'

face picon face
I was just reading the July microSOLUTIONS newsletter page about the new
MPLAB, and it brought to mind my big issue with MPLAB.  Why doesn't it
use make logic?

I.e. - I'm using the BoostC compiler; when I build a project, why does
it recompile everything when I've only touched one .c file?  I think the
same thing happens when I've used assembly - change one .asm file,
everything gets reassembled - though it's been a while since I've done
that.  And I think the behavior is the same with other C compiler, but
I'm less sure.

BoostC otherwise works fine with MPLAB.  I often use the SourceBoost IDE
instead, especially while I'm writing lots of code, specifically because
it has make logic.  Then I switch back to MPLAB to do simulation,
debugging, or a few other things.

Is this just me?  Am I missing something?

This does not happen when using MPLAB C18. It works fine when
choosing "Project ->Make". Not so sure about BoostC, maybe it
has a buggy plugin.

Interesting.  Must be BoostC then - I don't *have* a Make command under
Project!  So I guess that must be provided by the toolsuite plugin?

(This is with MPLAB 7.50.)
