'[PIC] Connecting ICSP into application circuit'

Hi

I'm trying to work out how to connect ICSP from a programmer (the parallel one
shown on http://pikdev.free.fr/hardware.html) to a PIC18F2455 in the
application circuit (adapted unchanged from the 16f one shown at
http://www.alanmacek.com/usb/#Project_Hardware). I know very little about
electronics.

I know I need to connect the Vss line from the ICSP to the Vss on the app
circuit, but should I also connect up the Vdd lines from the programmer and
the application circuits together?

Also, is the MCLR pin on the pic dedicated for ICSP use or should it be
connected in to the application circuit as well.

RB7 and RB6 seems straightforward enough as I only need a couple of outputs
from the pic so I can avoid re-using these for anything other than ICSP!!!

Thanks for your help.

Nick

Oh well that's good, you've nothing against me then.

Nice to see a balanced considered response though. I'm sure you do things that
really get my goat going but luckily you don't have to put up with my bile
about them.
