'[PIC] Basic Compiler'

I am a registered (and satisfied) user of the ME Pic Pascal Compiler. I am very satisfied with it and use it for all my PIC development. I believe that all of ME's compilers are derived from the same core and I would expect the Basic compiler to be "up to snuff" ME has continued to improve and upgrade their compilers. BTW: registered users can always upgrade to the latest version for FREE!

I would suggest that you join ME's user forums and see what the user base has to say about all the compilers; C, Pascal and Basic

Unless they have changed their policies the "free upgrade" has
slightly more hooks in it than may be apparent. They require (or
required) you to send in the original media (floppy disk in my case)
and charged a not insignificant "handling fee". As they are on the
other side of the world to me this was annoying and inconvenient when
there are a number of ways of sending updates electronically while
still ensuring that only the original buyer avails themselves of this
service.

If they have changed their system I'd be pleased to hear it.

I bought mP almost two years ago.... always had free upgrades, no hassle.
Even when I installed a new HD, getting a new registration key was painless.

I have never had a problem. Never had media, not even with the original purchase. I downloaded the SW and mE sent me my unlock key. Then I just download the upgrade and go. The SW knows I am a registered user. Purchased ver 2.16 and have followed the upgrades and am current. Never saw an "hooks" and have never been charged a "handling fee" I suppose if you insist on having "media" you might get charged a fee. BTW: I have the Pascal version.

Choice of electronic only version never offered afair.
And it was explicitly stated that electronic upgrades were not
available.

I think you guys are talking about two different companies -
mikroelectronika and microengineering labs.

I think so too.

BTW: mikroelectronika has just released a long awaited upgrade to the Pascal compiler and expects to release the same for their Basic compiler in a week or two.
I downloaded my copy of the update last night.

I think so three ! :-)
Sorry about that.
He said "ME" and BASIC and I jumped to the wrong conclusion.
It's Microengineering Labs who give the inexplicably poor servcie -
not mikroelectronika. ME Labs compilers seem to be OK and reasonable
enough value for money.

If you need to upgrade ME Labs stuff in future, try contacting Glitchbuster - he does their stuff and at
slightly better prices!
