'[PIC] BIG external memory?'

I have a client wanting to put a table of data that runs about 500kbyte in
his product. This would be read only. I'm thinking of using an external
flash chip (looks like they're about $2 or $3). Any comments? Should I use
magnetic core instead?

Do you need to be
able to write to it *at all* ?

Maybe just an old-n-trusted OTP PROM ?
(Don't know if there are serial versions, thought...)
