'[PIC] - Where can I get a 16F628?'

Hello, I need a 16F628 so that I can change the firmware in my Kit 150
programmer. here's the catch though.... I don't have an address. I've
been traveling the country as a freelance programmer. Does anybody know
if there there any retail type stores that carry PICs? Or that I can call
in advance and have them order? I'll be in the following areas, so if any
of you are local to those areas and can help me out I'd be much obliged...

Hi,
If you are going to be in any of those areas for at least 2-3 days why
not order directly from Microchip? They ship everything via FedEx 2nd
Day Air. No reason you could not have a package delivered to a hotel.
I order all my PICS from Microchip directly. Shipping on small
quantities of chips (less than 20 - 30 pieces) is about $6.00. If you
can order a few things in addition to the 628 then this is not a bad
deal at all.

You might try Supremetronic on Queen Street in Toronto. If they don't
have it, Active Components might. I might have an extra if you're
really really stuck, though I'd have to look.
Couldn't you order one from Digikey though? I'd imagine you could have
it overnighted to whereever you are working. I suppose a lack of
credit cards might be an issue though.

In Toronto and Boston you should be able to get them at Active.

I should have a few of these lying around (not in the right office to check
now). I'll give you one if you want to stop by while you're in the Boston
area. We're in Littleton, which is about 35 miles northwest of Boston.

You could order it from someone like Randy at
glitchbuster.com and have him send it First Class mail
to your name, c/o General Delivery at one of cities
you are going to visit. Full-time RVers do it that way
all the time.

I'm halfway between New York and Boston; a few miles off of
I-95. If you're driving between those cities, contact me
off-list and I can get you set up.

I am in Buffalo, NY and would be glad to serve as a drop point for you.
(Have the PIC shipped to me and I'll meet you for lunch with it.)
