Often I get people telling me that the PIC chips are not that powerful, they are only good for
doing simple task  and you really need to look at ARM for serious work. Today I came across
this site showing a VGA video game running on a 18F2550 chip, 256x200 graphics, animation, music, controls.
The site has the full source code for download as well.

Really amazing what someone who is dedicated can do with a single PIC chip. I like ARM too but PIC is more capable than most give it credit .

Funny, the PCB has a 74HC245 chip, the circuit diagram has none.

Meh.  No longer considered impressive.  These days you have to be able to decode highly compressed video (H.264?) to HDMI at 1920x1080, while simultaneously doing stereo CD-quality sound and eye tracking via image processing of 2MP video input.
And running a couple billion iterations of a AES256 birthday attack because that's your homework assignment…

No BillW,

That's not impressive.
I did all that with a pair of EF88 valves back in the 70's, now THAT is
impressive.

I'm joking of course, it was 3 valves :)
