I just got one of these today but I found that the message was posted
anyway. I think I've seen this before when I left too much of the
original post intact.

Yep, got one yesterday and I didn't try to send the message more than once.
I thought maybe a mail relay along the way had been interrupted and retried
by itself.

That might happen when there is an account causing a "bounce" back to the
list, generally one of us Admins will catch it and deal with the account
causing the problem. TTYL

I too have also received this message, so I have not been sending any messages figuring that nobody is getting them since they are being rejected.

I've been getting it on every post for the last day or two.  I assumed
that the PIClist once again has a mail loop, but that this time the admins
have taught the server how to detect redundant messages.  Don't know for
sure though.

Me too - got one this morning for a message that I only posted once.

I've only posted 2 messages in the past couple of days so I put it down to a
bug on the piclist.

I just got another one and this time examined the header more carefully.
This shows that messages received from the list are being bounced back to
the list via machine mx01.covadmail.net.  The original sender address is
preserved, so the server complains to the original sender about he
"duplicate" message.  OK, who's the slimebag at covadmail.net?  Is there
any way to block all mail to the server originating from the covadmail.net
domain?

Hi Olin,

I am the slime from the covadmail, oozing along on the piclist floor ;-)

But Covad is a pretty big ISP, so I have no control over them, sorry.

Cheerful regards,

Bob

P.S. I just had to make that FZ reference!

Has anybody still gotten the message? There are indications from Bob that
his ISP is not truly the problem (although the headers do point at his ISP).
Thanks, TTYL

I've been getting them too. It happens from time to time.

The post seems to go through OK, though.

Cheers,

Sean
