It was bound to happen, but we now have a board that bombs out in a variety
of strange ways, of which at least one involves getting an interrupt with
the following register values:
INTCON PIR1 PIE1 PIR2 PIE2 TRISB PORTB
         61    52     00     10     00       05          35
         61    52     00     00     00       03          33

I suspect I'm going to have to use a hardware emulator to crack this
problem.  Any suggestions for better/worse ones, and also where to borrow or
rent on in the UK?
Using MPLAB and CCS PCM C compiler, btw.
Tia,
       Bill

Your message had 24 lines of "signature" and only 11 lines of content.  You
might want to spare your readers all verbal diarrhea, especially when you
are asking for a favor.  While you're at it, you can get rid of your hard
reply address so that a default reply goes to the list.

Next time compose tables and "ASCII art" in a fixed space font.

I don't know which "one" of these you really mean, but neither indicates an
interrupt state.  The timer 0 and peripheral interrupts are enabled, but all
the peripheral interrupts are individually disabled.  How was this snapshot
measured?

The Microchip ICE-2000 is an execellent tool, and reasonably priced for such
things.  There are also other methods where the price is lower but the "just
like the real chip" factor is also lower.  The ICE-2000 is definitely the
most cost effective alternative to anyone doing commercial PIC development.
Even the full retail price is only a few days of time.

Thanks for your kind comments, which I will bear in mind.
The problem was that (via a few levels of function calling) I was setting
GIE from within an ISR.
Again, thanks

Hey, give the guy credit.  He did drop the signature, which I do believe
was of record length.  Let's appreciate small victories.  Bill, thanks,
and if your email client allows it you can remove your email address
from the Reply-To: field.  If that's not set replies will go to the
list, and it should not affect anything else.  The Reply-To: field is
normally used only if you want replies to go to a different address from
the one from which you sent the message.  Most people don't know that and
put their own email address in that field, but it's very rarely needed.

Dale
