The file you attached doesn't look like it produced this. When you say
"compile my project" seems to say that you get this error when you do a
build (compile all files & link). Do you get the same error when you
compile only the serial.c file? If not, the error is probably somewhere else.

Are they already defined in conio.h ?

Hi all, I have finally found time to return to the PIC  project I started a
month or two back. I am trying to build a motor (hobby  servo) controller
using a PIC 16F84 and Hi Tech C.   I have struck a wall trying to get
software UART  working on my 16F84. I am trying to use some code (attached)
that I downloaded  from http://www.workingtex.com/htpic/ which  I have
found to be an excellent reference site for a beginner like  myself!  The
problem I am having is that when I try to  compile my project I get the
following error message.  serial.obj:12:multiply defined symbol: _getch
(coms.obj) (error)
serial.obj:12:multiply defined symbol: _putch (coms.obj)  (error)  I have a
feeling it is probably something really  simple and I just haven't figured
out this compiler yet ;-)  Thanks for any help and suggestions, regards
James Fitzsimons

Well, after your comment I went back and tried compiling just the serial.c
file.... what do you know, success! So, I double checked my coms.c file (my
main project file) and I had included serial.c! Man did I feel stupid.
Sometimes I guess you just need someone else to point out the
obvious...either that or more sleep ;-)

Cheers,
