'[PIC]: sample serial code for 17C?'

face picon face
After looking all over the bloody place, including searching google for
17C+usart+movwf, I can't find any sample code that demonstrates the use of
the USART on the 17C43

I found
www.microchip.com/14010/faqs/tsupport/picmicro/usart/index1.htm
http://www.piclist.com/techref/microchip/autobaud-ol.htm (and
http://www.cognivis.com/pic/std.ins.aspic.htm
at Olin's site, but his style of programming does take some getting used
to... probably worth the time, but not what I was looking for.)

Is it the same as the USARTS for the other PICs?
http://www.piclist.com/techref/microchip/16xuarts.htm

Has anybody used this chip for serial coms who is willing to share some part
of the code?

This code in PICUART.ZIP from http://redrival.com/mcgahee/ is incredible.
It's known to work and is easily portable to other PIC's.

I never got more than one pop-up, and never uncloseable, but in any case,
here is the direct link to the file:

Unfortunately REDRIVAL.COM has begun placing these ads
on all their free websites, mine included. I have no
control over their ads, since that was one of the terms
or conditions that came with getting the free website.
(There are not too many places offering free websites
that also give you more than 10 megabytes of space).

If you absolutely can't stand the ads, try my other
website:
http://mcgahee.freeservers.com/

This site has only a single simple banner ad at the top.
(at least that is all I saw the last time I checked, which
was ten minutes ago...)

The PICUART file contains a mini tutorial on serial
communication, but most importantly it points out many of
the subtle "gotchas" that are involved in using the
PIC built-in uart. I believe that it works with ALL
PICs that have the built-in uart. I have not received
any e-mails indicating otherwise, and many people
have successfully used the information contained in the
file to get their uarts up and running.

Please consider hosting your page at piclist.com. I would be happy to make
your URL
mcgahee.piclist.com or whatever you want and I will be happy to help you
with the weird (but very easy) HTML editing and file posting requirements.
<GRIN>

NO ADS, full search and navigation links, feedback engine, devoted to PICs,
etc...

If using Windoze and you get a window without an "X" in top right hand
corner for closing then you MAY be able to close it with Alt-F4. YMMV.

Oh, no.  I'm not referring to the ones without the close box, though that's
pretty obnoxious.

Even worse are the ones that are opened with a Java script that opens a new
one every time you close one.
