Hi guys, I have a quick question, how do
prices of 16F873 in surface mount package
compare to the regular ones? In small
quantities, and are there minimum quantities
for SM ones??

Current Digi-key:

                  1     25    100

      4 Mz DIP  7.53   4.60   4.45
          SOIC  7.53   4.60   4.45

     20 Mz DIP  8.05   4.92   4.76
          SOIC  8.05   4.92   4.76

This is for parts they actually have in stock.

regards, Jack

Prices of SO and DIL parts are mostly pretty much the same. Other SM
packages (PLCC,QFP,SSOP) are usually slightly more.

Most distributors will supply stock items in any quantity, but if they
need to order it specially you may have to buy a tube quantity. This
is only likely to be a problem with the less common device/package
combinations, e.g. SSOP, TQFP, industrial temp etc. and should not be
an issue for mainstream PICs
